Hilde Klinkhardt
I was born in 1962 in Nordhorn (near the border to the Netherlands). When I was young I would have preferred to join the scouts over going shopping with my friends, but sadly there were no girl – scouts in my hometown. Not only on our trips the best way for me to reach my goal is usually a detour. So I first finished a commercial education, passed my Abitur and afterwards at the age of 31 started my degree in sports and education sciences which I finished in 2002.
What I enjoy most when going on long trips by bike is the reduction of everything to the bare necessities. To care about nothing else than food, drinks and a place to camp for the night is the feeling of freedom for me. One of my good friends is an enthusiastic hobby photographer. He sponsored my photo equipment after our Australian and New Zealand tour. So now I am driven by another fervor: taking photographs. I try to capture the experiences on our way and to let other people participate in them.
